Using Exam Lock: What’s Restricted and Why
Purpose: Explain Exam Lock controls, user impact, and rationale.
Overview
Though not compliant with regulation for formal exams, Exam Lock may be used in mock exams.
The purpose of the feature is to disable functions of the pen that may help students in the mock exam situation.
What Exam Lock Restricts

Voice input (microphone): Always disabled when Exam Lock mode is ON.

Defining words: Can be individually enabled or disabled in Exam Lock Mode

Word Translation: Can be individually enabled or disabled in Exam Lock Mode

Full Text Translation: Can be individually enabled or disabled in Exam Lock Mode

Conversation translation: Always disabled as result of voice input being disabled.

TTS behaviors: Certain abbreviations and symbols typically not allowed to be read out in a formal exam are omitted when scanned text is read out aloud.

Assessment integrity, standardized compliance, and anti-cheat measures.
How to Enable/Disable Exam Lock
- Go to the settings option on the main menu.
- Press the main button to enter settings.
- Press down10times to get to system settings.
- Press the main button.
- Exam lock and UI lock are on the first screen you see.
- Press left/right on the required option.
- Now you need to enter a 4-digit pin using the up and down keys to select the number and left and right to move on to the next number.
- Once you have selected your 4-digit PIN, press the main menu button to confirm and activate the chosen lock mode.
- To remove the lock, repeat these steps and re-enter your PIN.
Voice Input Restrictions During Exams
Purpose: Detail how and when voice input is disabled under Exam Lock.
Scope of Restriction
Voice input in Reader, Definition and Translate is disabled.
User Experience
A message will occur on screen if trying to use voice input while Exam Lock is activated.
