C-Pen Reader and Lingo Devices: Operating System Compatibility

The C-Pen Reader 2, C-Pen Reader 3, C-Pen Lingo 3, and C-Pen Secure Reader 2 are primarily standalone devices. All capabilities related to normal use are fully embedded locally in the devices.

They all do support connected use in two cases: scan-to-computer, and portable USB disk. Neither of the functions require any software to be installed on the computer and the C-Pen model referred to are compatible with Windows PCs, macOS computers, ChromeOS (Chromebooks), and many Linux distributions PCs such as Ubuntu.

What Works?

✅ On pen scanning and text-to-speech
No computer, internet connection, or software is required. All scanning and reading functions are processed directly on the pen. No connections required.

✅ Keyboard Mode
When connected by USB, the pen transfers scanned text to any application where the cursor is active, such as documents, emails, or web forms.

✅ U-Disk Mode
The pen’s user storage can be accessed as a standard USB storage device for viewing and transferring files. This is typically used when updating the device software.

Important Notes

• Scanning and text-to-speech work independently and locally.
• Keyboard Mode works with most devices that support standard USB keyboard input. In Keyboard Mode, the device does not read any text out loud. If that is required, it must be supported on the connected computer.
• U-Disk Mode works with operating systems that support standard USB Mass Storage, including Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and many Linux distributions.
• Additional drivers are typically not required for these functions.
